Lab
What I built in the home lab, why, and what broke on the way.
An automation stack built by AI agents, under tests
Roughly thirty scheduled jobs nobody watches, written mostly by AI agents — which only works because every job has a test that runs it, and the tests get broken on purpose to check they can still fail.
Alerts I can trust, because I broke them first
Five events reach my phone and everything else queues up quietly. That short list is the second attempt — the first one fired twenty-eight times for the thing I did not want and zero times for the two I did.
Keeping the lab away from the family
Two networks on one gateway, a default-deny wall between them, and no port opened to the internet — so I can break the lab without breaking the house.
