The short version of what I do is on the home page. The half worth adding here is the other one: a great deal of security work is the same few motions repeated at volume, and I would rather build the thing that absorbs the repetition and leaves the judgement to a person. Chasing that is how a work habit turned into a home lab, and how the home lab turned into a site about how software gets built.
Credentials
I hold the CISSP — the broad practitioner certification in this field, covering the whole surface rather than one product. I am currently studying for the CISM, which points the other way: less about running the controls, more about deciding which ones are worth running. Before either, a master's degree in cybersecurity and a bachelor's in IT service management.
Off the clock
I run a home lab, which is the polite name for a network in my house that I am allowed to break. It is deliberately built the way production ought to be — tested rather than reviewed, backups restored rather than assumed, and alert paths I try to prove by breaking the thing they watch — because rehearsing a habit costs nothing here and a great deal everywhere else. The Lab section is what came of it, mistakes included.
Away from a screen I run a few times a week, which is where most of the thinking gets done, and I keep a small gym at home. What I am on this season is on the Now page.
